Michael has a Bachelor in Youth Ministry (Briercrest) and a Masters in Leadership and Training (Royal Roads University) and along the way acquired a Certificate in Human Resources (University of Calgary). As someone who came to be a follower of Jesus in his teens, he has a passion for seeing all people know of God's love for them.
As a youth pastor in Manitoba he pioneered a self-running, student-led ministry before stepping into an interim Sr. Pastor role. During that chapter of his life he discovered the life-changing power of community. After the third church asked him to consider a Community Life position, he realized that God was speaking. He has a passion for people connecting with one another and growing in Christ together.
Michael is proud husband and father of three elementary school-aged children. He loves to be outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, or floating. He is an avid reader and a lifelong learner. He is passionate about leadership, community, apologetics and has acquired a love/hate relationship with computers too.
When he gets the opportunity and the weather is cooperating, you can find him on one of the roads in Southern Alberta on his motorcycle (a Yamaha MT-01 - not to brag or anything!), kayaking a river, hiking a trail, or puttering on something.
He has heard about men having a "nothing box" that they can park their mind in. He enviously wonders what it would be like to have one of those.
